This document contains configuration instructions for use with
NeTrack client DSL services.
Before you begin, have the IP address assigned to you by Netrack
ready to enter in the Actiontec GT701 configuration.
If you do not already have an Ethernet network interface card
in your computer, install one first. USB is not supported.
You must configure the GT701 through a wired ethernet, not wireless.
Wireless is disabled on the GT701 out of the box.
If you are using a Macintosh, please first ensure your computer name
is shorter than 15 characters and has no spaces or unusual characters.
You can set the computer name by going to the Apple menu, System
Preferences, Sharing.
1) Follow the instructions that came with your Actiontec GT701.
2) Use the following information as your ISP Worksheet:
ISP Protocol: PPPoA
Username: Check the box "My ISP does not use a username/password"
IP type: Static IP
Use the Single IP address or Block assigned to you
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: (blank - dynamic)
DNS: (blank - dynamic)
Once your configuration is completed, the Actiontec GT701 will save
the configuration settings you entered and reboot.
3) When the Actionitec GT701 has rebooted, the Power, DSL, and Internet
lights should become steady on, not flash.
4)Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer. Use the
File Open menu to open http://192.168.0.1/ . Click on the Status
menu option.
Your configuration was successful and you are now connected to
the Internet if the status page shows the WAN Connection status as
"Connected."
- The WAN status shows "disconnected" but the "DSL" light on the modem is
on steady. The Internet light on the modem is not green and steady.
- Double-check your configuration by going to the Setup page and
then Alternative Setup. Make sure the configuration there matches
the ISP worksheet. If you do not have Alternative Setup but have Non-windows
Setup instead, select Non-windows Setup and set the username to "netrack"
and the password to "online."
Call Netrack for further assistance, 303.938.0188.
- My web browser can't open the web page http://192.168.0.1.
- Check your computer's network configuration and make sure that
it is set to "obtain an IP address automatically." Then reboot
your computer and try again.
- I can open the web page, but the status shows "disconnected." The "DSL"
light on the modem is flashing.
- Check that the modem is correctly connected to your DSL telephone
line outlet. If the "DSL" light on the modem won't stop flashing and
stay on, please call Qwest for repair, 800-903-5003. Tell the
technician that your modem will not train.
- The WAN status shows "disconnected" and the IP address I entered
in the configuration does not appear on the status page. The
"Internet" light on the modem is red.
- Your Actiontec DSL modem is defective and did not save the configuration
you provided. Please contact Netrack, 303-938-0188 for a loaner
replacement modem to confirm the problem.
Contact Netrack if you
have any difficulties or questions in configuring your Actiontec
GT701 or establishing your connection to the Internet.
If you want to use the wireless hub feature of your Actiontec GT701,
you have to enable it and configure it for your environment.
1) Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer. Use the
File Open menu to open http://192.168.0.1/ .
2) Select the Actiontec menus Setup then Advanced Setup. Then click
Begin Advanced Setup. Select Wireless from the left setup option list.
3) Click the button to turn on the wireless features. Then click Next.
4) In the subsequent screens, configure the Actiontec GT701 wireless
settings to match your environment. We highly recommend that you enable
and configure WEP. Without WEP, all your network activity is publicly
accessible and your wireless network can be used to access the Internet
by those whom you did not authorize.
5) Click Save and Restart at the bottom of the left setup option list.
When the DSL and Internet lights stop flashing and stay on steady green,
your modem is ready for use again.
CAUTION: NAT is required to be enabled unless you have been
assigned a block of static IP addresses from Netrack. If you have
been assigned a block of static IP addresses and you disable NAT,
your modem's web-based configuration interface is accessible by
anyone. So please configure an admin username and password to
protect your modem when you turn off NAT.
Other Advanced configuration options should not be modified
without instruction and assistance from Netrack. If you make
changes and experience problems with your connection, you will be
asked to reset your modem to basic settings.
